More About Windsor

Windsor was a small rural community until the early 20th century, when it began to grow as a result of its proximity to the city of Brisbane and the development of the suburban railway line. The area was attractive to residents because of its large blocks of land and the quality of the soil, which was suitable for market gardening.

In 1925, the Windsor Shire was amalgamated with the City of Brisbane, becoming part of the Brisbane City Council. The area continued to grow and develop, with the opening of the Windsor State School in 1927 and the Windsor Library in 1937.

Today, Windsor is a popular residential suburb, known for its historic character, leafy streets and proximity to the city. It has a mix of older Queenslander-style homes and more modern developments, as well as commercial and retail areas along Lutwyche Road. The suburb continues to be a desirable location for families and professionals, with access to good schools, parks and amenities.
