Lutwyche is a residential suburb located in the north of Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland, Australia. It was named after Alfred Lutwyche, a judge who was appointed to the area when Queensland gained self-government in 1859. Lutwyche donated land for the construction of St. Andrew’s Church of England in 1866. The suburb’s development was aided by the construction of a bridge over Enoggera Creek in 1860, which provided a road from Brisbane to Lutwyche and the Gympie goldfields. A tram service was also introduced in 1914, connecting Lutwyche to the rest of the city. Today, Lutwyche is a predominantly residential area with a range of amenities, including parks, shops, and public transport links.
