A main thoroughfare between Brisbane and Ipswich, Bellbowrie is a suburb located approximately 18km south west of the Brisbane CBD on the northern bank of the Brisbane River connected via Moggill Road and the Centenary Highway via the Moggill Ferry.
Neighbouring the suburbs of Moggill, Pullenvale, Pinjarra Hills and Anstead, Bellbowrie which is thought to be named after the indigenous Australian expression to describe a place of flowering gums, is a relatively new satellite suburb built to meet the increasing demands for residential housing and a metropolitan link between rural Pullenvale and Moggil in the 1970’s. The area has continued to see an increase in development as former acreage owners and farmers have continued to subdivide and develop their properties to meet the increasing demand for housing stock.
An initial testing ground for the evolving opinions on urban planning Bellbowrie was developed with the intention to reserve 12% for open space, all house lots to be larger than a quarter acre, an enhancement of parklike vistas with no fences and introducing underground power conduits and services.
Bellbowrie location offers a variety of facilities and amenities to residents including shopping, dining, educational and an abundance of outdoor and recreational activities.
