Communication to tenants – 24 March 2020

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve in Australia and globally, we would like to update you on how we are managing COVID-19 and its potential impacts. Our highest priority is the health and wellbeing of our people, our tenants and our communities.

Pure Real Estate is taking an informed approach that is being guided by advice from Australian health authorities and the Queensland State Government to provide continued Real Estate services. Below outlines our current approach to the ongoing risk.

Personal Health and Safety
To help prevent the transmission of COVID-19, we have implemented the following precautionary measures:

  • We have instructed our employees to take leave if they are feeling unwell or to work from home. In addition, any employees with flu-like symptoms have been directed to seek urgent medical advice.
  • We have suspended conducting Routine Inspections while we determine other ways to meet our contractual obligations without putting tenants or employees at risk.
  • We are working with employees, tenants and prospective tenants to conduct open for inspections on properties available for rent so that we can minimise the risk to the health and wellbeing of all involved.
  • We are working with contractors and tenants regarding any maintenance requirements to ensure it is carried out in a way that minimises the risk to tenants and contractors.

Office Sanitisation
In our office, we have implemented control measures as recommended by Government health authorities. These include:

  • Increasing availability of hand sanitisers and anti-bacterial wipes in high traffic areas and public entrances.
  • Asking our employees to exercise good hygiene practices including regular hand washing with soap.
  • Sanitizing property keys as they go in and out of the office

Rental Payments
We are currently looking at how we will manage tenancies that fall into financial hardship in this difficult time. It is expected that the Government will provide further information regarding relief for rental payments this week.

While we understand that it is a stressful time for many, we ask that you continue to make your regular payments. For those of you who have lost your income, please contact us early so that we can communicate and work together through these unusual times.

You can also contact the RTA for advice and contact Centrelink for financial assistance options.

RTA Advice
The RTA has a COVID-19 information box on their home page which states as at 12pm on 24 March 2020 the following:

The RTA acknowledges the Prime Minister’s announcement on 20 March 2020 regarding residential tenancies in hardship due to COVID-19. Unfortunately, we do not have any further information at this time. As soon as more information is provided, we will update our website and eNews subscribers. You can subscribe here.

On 22 March, the Prime Minister announced an economic support package for workers, households and businesses. Learn more and see if you’re eligible.

For the latest COVID-19 information, visit Queensland Health’s website or the Australian Government’s website.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, the RTA is currently experiencing longer wait times across our customer and support services. We thank you for your patience.

Working as a Team
In this challenging time, Pure Real Estate Group is committed to working with our people, owners, tenants and contractors, and the relevant authorities to listen, take advice and importantly, take decisive action to assist in preserving the health and wellbeing of our communities.

We will provide further information when we have further direction from the Government. We look forward to working together to support you through this time.

Kind Regards

Russell Peter | Principal
